Blacklist the Discord Roles That Cannot Enter Your Giveaways

Pick the roles that cannot enter: your staff, your mod bot's muted role, or a giveaway-banned role for rule-breakers. The bot turns them away on every entry path with a message that says why.

A blacklist role is a Discord role you mark as unable to enter your ScopliDrop giveaway. Anyone holding one is turned away the moment they try, before a single task is shown. You pick the roles when you build the giveaway, and holding any one of them is enough to be blocked.

The rule holds on every entry path. A blocked member pressing the entry button inside Discord gets a private reply naming the exact role that blocked them. On share links and website embeds, the same check runs at sign-in and refuses the entry with a message pointing them to your staff if they believe it is a mistake.

It is also the gentlest exclusion tool a host has. A server ban removes someone from the community entirely. A blacklisted role only takes them out of the draw, and removing the role puts them back in.

How It Works

From one list of roles in the builder to every entry path enforcing it

  1. 1

Pick the blocked roles when you build the giveaway

Choose any number of roles in the builder, and holding any one of them blocks entry. Your moderator roles, a role you hand to rule-breakers, the muted role your mod bot assigns, any role in the server can go on the list.

Set it once and it travels. Giveaway templates store your blacklist, and quickstart defaults carry it into giveaways launched straight from Discord, so the exclusions your server settled on apply themselves.

  2. 2

Holders are turned away on every entry path

A blocked member pressing the entry button inside Discord gets a private reply naming the exact role that blocked them, visible only to them. The check runs before a single task is shown, so a blocked member never starts an entry in the first place.

On share links and website embeds, the same check runs at sign-in. The entry is refused with a message explaining a blacklisted role blocked it and pointing them to your staff if they believe it is a mistake. Switching entry modes never opens a gap.

  3. 3

Conflicts and outages are already handled

The blacklist is checked before bypass roles, so when a member holds both a blocked role and a trusted one, the block wins. An exclusion you set can never be talked around by another role.

And the rule only blocks when the role is positively confirmed. If roles cannot be read for a moment, the entry proceeds, so a brief outage never turns your legitimate members away at the door.

Setups This Enables

The same rule, pointed at three kinds of exclusion

Keep staff out of their own drops

Add your moderator and admin roles to every giveaway's blacklist. The people running the giveaway are never in the pool, and the question of whether the draw was arranged answers itself.

A giveaway-banned role for rule-breakers

Create one role for task fakers and repeat troublemakers, blacklist it in your template, and assign it in two clicks when someone earns it. They keep their place in the community and lose their place in the draw.

Mirror your moderation state

Blacklist the muted role your moderation bot already assigns. A member sitting out a timeout sits out your giveaways too, and the exclusion lifts itself the moment the mute does, with nothing extra for your team to manage.

A Draw Your Staff Cannot Win Is a Draw Members Trust

Who is not in the pool matters as much as who is

The fastest way to lose a community's trust in your giveaways is a winner announcement with a moderator's name on it. Even a fair draw looks arranged when the prize lands on the team. Blacklisting your staff roles settles the question before it is asked, because the people running the giveaway were never in the pool.

The same lever handles your rule-breakers. Task fakers and repeat troublemakers rarely deserve a server ban. They just need to stay out of the draw, and a giveaway-banned role you assign in two clicks does exactly that, on this giveaway and every future one that lists it.

And because the rule is a role, your existing moderation flow already fits. Your mod bot can assign it, Discord's audit log shows who applied it, and lifting the exclusion is removing a role rather than editing every giveaway you run.
