Custom tasks come with the Business plan, and are included in Enterprise. The App Verified method, where your own registered app confirms completion, is Enterprise only. Once a server is activated, everyone building giveaways on it can use them.
Custom Tasks
Build Your OwnGiveaway Task
When the task your Discord giveaway needs is not in the catalog, build it. You choose the name, the icon, the instructions, what data entrants submit, and how completion is checked.
A custom task is a task you define yourself, next to the built-in catalog in the giveaway builder. You give it a name, pick its icon from 92 options including the major brand marks, and write the instructions entrants see. To your members it looks and behaves like any other task in the giveaway, in the Discord embed and on the entry page.
What makes it yours is the verification method. A custom task can send entrants to a link, collect up to three data fields you define, do both in sequence, or hand the check to your own app. Your app answers with a signed result. The data entrants submit stays attached to each participant in your dashboard, and can flow on into your participant CRM and your Brevo lists.
The Four Verification Methods
You pick one per task, so the same giveaway can mix a quick link visit with a check your own app performs
Simple Honor
Your link, plus a timer
The lightest method. The task shows your link, the entrant opens it in a new tab, and after a minimum time on the page the task completes on its own. Nothing comes back for you to review, so it suits asks where showing up is the point: read the rules, browse the store page, watch the trailer.
Reach for this when opening the page is the whole ask.
For example, "Check out the new merch store" with your shop URL and a short timer.
Data Direct
Your fields, right on the entry page
No link at all. The entrant fills the fields you defined, up to three per task, each with a type: text, email, URL, date, or country. A field can be required or optional, with a placeholder and format guidance where its type supports them. Date fields can be bounded, for example no earlier than the giveaway launch or no later than today.
Every submission lands on the participant in your dashboard, labeled the way you named the field. A field can also save into a reusable Data field, which files the value into the member's profile in your participant CRM, and email fields can sync to your Brevo lists.
Reach for this when the answer is the task: an email, a username, an order number.
For example, "Drop your Minecraft username so we can whitelist you" with one required text field.
Data Post-Link
Your link first, then your fields
The two-step version. The entrant visits your link, does the thing there, and comes back to submit the fields that prove it. It is the natural shape for "sign up on our site, then paste your username" or "place an order, then enter the order number".
What they typed stays attached to their entry for your review, the same as Data Direct.
Reach for this when the action happens on your site and the proof fits in a field.
For example, "Sign up for the beta, then paste your account username" with your signup URL and one field.
App Verified
Your app confirms completion
The deterministic one. You register your app once in the dashboard and define the actions it can confirm, up to twenty per app. During the task the entrant is redirected to your service. Your service checks whether they completed the action and answers with a cryptographically signed result. The entry is confirmed the moment your app says yes, with the same certainty as a Discord join check.
Anything your backend can look up becomes a checkable giveaway task. Purchases, signups, deposits, in-app milestones. The App Verified tasks page walks the whole system, and the Verified Actions developer guide covers the handshake end to end.
Reach for this when your own service can check the action itself.
For example, "Make your first deposit" or "Reach level 10 in our game", confirmed by your own backend.
The Four Methods Side by Side
What each one asks of the entrant, and what you get back
| Method | What the entrant does | What comes back to you | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Simple Honor | Opens your link, stays a moment | A completed visit | Read this, look at that |
| Data Direct | Fills your fields on the entry page | The values, attached for review | Emails, usernames, IDs |
| Data Post-Link | Visits your link, then submits fields | The visit plus the values | Sign up, then prove it |
| App Verified | Completes the action on your service | A signed yes from your app | Purchases, signups, in-app actions |
Submitted data stays attached to each participant, so the two data methods pair naturally with a review before the draw. App Verified needs no review at all, because your own service already gave the answer.
How a Custom Task Runs, Whatever Method You Pick
The three things that are true of all four
- 1
Name the task and give it a face
Every custom task starts with a display name, an icon, and an optional instructions note entrants read before completing it. The icon library holds 92 options, including the brand marks entrants already recognize: TikTok, Shopify, Steam, Patreon, and the rest. Your members see the name you chose, in the Discord announcement embed and on the entry page.
- 2
The giveaway carries it like any catalog task
A custom task slots into the giveaway next to the built-in tasks, with its own entry value, so a task set to three entries counts three times as much as one set to one. One giveaway can carry several custom tasks, and any entry mode that reaches the web task page can include them.
- 3
Review what comes in
Open any participant in your dashboard and their submissions sit there under your own field labels, each value one click from the clipboard. Fields saved to a Data field keep filing into the member's CRM profile across every giveaway that reuses them. And if a drawn winner's submission does not hold up, you reroll them from the winners panel.
What Hosts Build With It
Three setups that come up again and again
An email list that grows with every giveaway
A Data Direct task with one required email field, saved to a Data field and synced to Brevo. Each giveaway you run from then on feeds the same list, and the CRM keeps one profile per member no matter how many giveaways they enter.
A beta program that fills itself
A Data Post-Link task pointing at your signup page, with a username field whose format guidance catches typos before they are submitted. The giveaway does the recruiting, and you get a clean list of accounts to grant access to.
Entries only your customers can earn
An App Verified task on the action your backend already records: a first deposit, a completed order, a finished onboarding. The reward flows to the people your own records already confirmed.
And whatever else you can think of. For more inspiration, or to check whether a task idea is possible before you build it, ask us in the ScopliDrop community Discord.
Your Giveaway Can Require Things Only Your Project Cares About
The case for building your own
A task catalog covers the platforms everyone shares. It has no task for joining your beta, ordering from your shop, or reaching level ten in your game. And those are usually the exact actions you want a giveaway to reward.
Custom tasks close that gap on your own timeline, with no integration to wait for. If the action lives at a URL, send entrants there. If proof of it fits in a username, an email, or an order number, collect that. And if your own service can confirm the action, App Verified turns it into a task checked as rigorously as a Discord join.
The data side compounds. Every field you collect can save into your participant CRM, so a giveaway that asks for an email or a game username is also building an audience list you keep after the winner is drawn.
