Give Your Discord Server a Currency Members Earn by Chatting

Members earn coins for chatting and time in voice. You set the pace and the daily cap, name the currency, and decide where it gets spent.

A server economy gives your Discord server its own currency. Members earn coins automatically for chatting and for time in voice, and every coin belongs to your server.

Members bid coins in auctions, stake them in minigames and race for the most in Activity Mania events. You set the pace and the daily cap, and the transaction history shows every coin that moves. Coins are earned in your server and spent there, never bought and never cashed out.

How It Works

From one switch in the dashboard to coins changing hands every day

  1. 1

Turn on the economy and name your currency

One switch on the Economy page of the dashboard starts it. Your currency is 🪙 coins by default. You can rename it and give it any emoji, including a custom one from your server. A live preview shows how balances will read.

The economy runs on its own, with or without leveling. Members type /economy in Discord to see how they earn and which games are open, and every bot reply uses your currency's name and emoji.

  2. 2

Members earn coins as they chat and talk

Pick an earning speed. Slow pays 1 coin per message or voice minute, with a two minute cooldown and a 100 coin daily cap. Balanced pays the same with a one minute cooldown and no cap. Generous pays 3 coins per message and 2 per voice minute, with a 30 second cooldown. Custom lets you set each rate yourself.

The cooldown keeps spam from paying. The daily cap only limits what chat and voice earn in a day, so the rewards you hand out on purpose sit outside it. Coins follow the same channel and role rules as XP and leveling, so a channel or role you exclude there earns no coins either.

  3. 3

Pay coins out from the rest of your server

Coins can come from more than chat. Add coins to any level reward, and one sync pays everyone already past that level.

A giveaway can pay its winners in coins, the same amount for each or a different amount per position. They land when it ends, or when the winner opens their claim ticket. Activity Runners can pay your most active members every day.

Gifter roles get an allowance, like 3 gifts of 100 coins a week, sent with /gift. Gifts never come out of the gifter's own balance. Staff can also grant or deduct coins with /economyadmin.

  4. 4

Members spend their coins in your server

Coins give members something to aim for. In auctions they bid coins on a prize you put up, and an outbid member gets their coins back at once. In minigames they stake coins against each other, and the tax you set on wins is burned rather than paid to anyone.

Activity Mania events rank members by the coins they earn over a set window. With transfers on, members can also send coins to each other with /give. Transfers are never taxed, and you can switch them off.

  5. 5

    Watch every coin move

Members check balances with /balance and the top ten holders with /leaderpoints. In the dashboard, the leaderboard ranks top balances next to what each member has earned. The transaction history labels every movement: activity, level reward, giveaway reward, gift, grant, bid, refund, game won or lost.

Grants, deductions, resets and every change to your economy settings land in the server audit log with the name of who made them. Turning the economy off pauses earning, games, new events and new auctions. Every balance is kept for when you turn it back on.

Setups This Enables

Five ways hosts put a server currency to work

Chat all week, bid on Friday

Run the Balanced speed and put a Steam key up for auction every Friday. The members who talked the most hold the most coins, and a prize pool can hand the key to the winning bidder automatically.

A booster perk that spreads

Make your booster role a gifter role with 3 gifts of 100 coins a week. Boosters get something to hand out to the members they like, and the receive cap keeps one account from collecting every gift.

Coins for the runners up

Keep one main prize for first place and give winner positions 2 to 10 a coin reward each. Everyone who placed leaves with something to spend at the next auction.

A slow economy for a big server

Pick the Slow speed with its 100 coin daily cap and add a minigame tax. Coins stay scarce, so a winning auction bid still means something months later.

Level paydays

Pay coins at levels 5, 10 and 25, then sync the rewards so members already past those levels get paid the same day.

Members Get Something to Spend Their Activity On

Activity becomes something your members can spend

XP and levels show who is active. Coins turn that activity into something members can use, inside your server, on things you choose. A member who chatted all week walks into Friday's auction with the coins to win it.

A currency holds its value when coins leave as well as arrive, and you control both sides. The earning speed, the cooldown and the daily cap set how fast coins come in. Winning auction bids and minigame tax take coins out for good. Nobody receives them, the host included.

Because the same bot runs your giveaways, coins can win the same prizes your giveaways hand out. An auction can use claim tickets and a prize pool, so the winning bidder gets their Steam key revealed privately without anyone on your team handling it.
